How the Whetstone works
The mechanic
One short reasoning challenge a day. SMS in the US and Canada, WhatsApp everywhere else, email any time you want. You reply with a sentence or two about how you reasoned. We log the rep. Done.
Ten to twenty minutes a day. No app. No feed. No algorithm.
Your first rep
In a moment we will ask for your phone number, then two quick questions: a name for your Archive and the hour you want your daily rep. Your comfort level starts at Balanced (change it anytime with MODE, explained below). After your Day 1 calibration, your first real rep arrives either at the hour you picked today, or right then if you finished setup after that hour. From Day 2 it is always at your chosen time.
Comfort level
You pick one of three at setup. The exercises adjust accordingly. You can change anytime by texting MODE.
Solo: all challenges happen alone. No strangers, no public-facing prompts. Same rigor, different domain.
Balanced (default): mostly solo with light social. Text a friend, post a thought. No "go talk to a stranger" prompts.
Stretch: full mix including real-world interactive. Shopkeepers, calls, going somewhere new.
The five thinking paths
CRITICAL ◆ for evaluating ideas and claims

LOGICAL ▲ for clean step by step reasoning
TASTE ✦ for judgment when metrics disagree
Each challenge comes with a short pattern made for that category. Once you internalize the pattern, you use it on real life decisions.
If you skip a day
Text CATCH UP to see your open past challenges as a numbered list. Reply with the number, then answer that day's prompt. Catching up Tuesday on Friday gives Tuesday the credit. Your streak counts work, not calendar days.
Text TODAY to switch back to today's challenge.
